On the other hand, legalized online sports betting and Florida real money casino games are still not on the horizon.
Are Real Money Casino Games Legal in Florida?
Real money casino games are legal at land-based gambling venues in Florida. Players can currently play these games at brick-and-mortar casinos and on cruise ships. However, not all types of casino games are legal in all counties. For instance, slot machines are only legal at tribal casinos and racinos in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
On the other hand, the state doesn’t regard real-money poker as gambling because players compete against each other. Therefore, cardrooms at FL racetracks and tribal casinos across the state can legally host these games. Thanks to a 2009 bill, other table games are now also available in the seven casinos operated by the Seminole Tribe.
- Note: The minimum legal age for casino gambling in Florida is 21. However, residents can play poker, bingo, and lottery games at 18 years old.
FL Online Casinos Laws
The FL gambling law doesn’t recognize online gambling as a legal activity. Therefore, operating any real-money websites and apps is prohibited, and the only form of online gambling players can legally partake in is playing sweepstakes in social casinos.
However, while owning and operating a real-money online casino in Florida is illegal, players can still gamble online on regulated offshore sites. If you’d like to find a trusted operator, make sure to check out the list at the beginning of this article.
How to Register in Real Money Casinos
Florida players face many restrictions regarding gambling, especially gambling online. The state’s laws don’t currently allow online casinos to operate within the state, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have any options. There are plenty of licensed offshore gambling sites where you can play all of your favorite casino games.
Here is how you can sign up with them:

Best Real Money Casino Games in Florida
As we’ve already mentioned, not all kinds of casino games have been legalized in all Sunshine State’s counties. You can find real-money poker in all parts of Florida, but slots, blackjack, and other table games are only available in tribal casinos.
There are currently seven such gambling facilities in the state, six of them operated by the Seminole Tribe. Thanks to a bill that Governor Charlie Crist signed into law in 2009, the tribe gained permission to offer multiple real-money table games in its cardrooms.
In addition to tribal casinos, Floridians can also play slots and table games on the so-called ‘cruises to nowhere.’ These cruises are organized on ships sailing out into international waters for the sole purpose of bypassing the FL restrictive gambling laws.
Blackjack or 21 is one of the most popular table games in casinos worldwide.
Players in FL can find multiple live dealer blackjack tables in Seminole Tribe casinos around the country.
Other casinos still don’t have permission to host these games in a live format, but some of them can offer them electronically.
Seminole Tribe casinos offer different blackjack variations, with the game rules that usually include:
- Dealer can stand or hit on Soft 17.
- Natural blackjack pays 3:2.
- In shoe games, a player can double down on any two cards.
- In games using two decks, a player can double down only on 8, 9, 10, and 11.
- There is no late surrender.
Players in Florida can find real-money slot games in the state’s seven tribal casinos and eight racinos in Miami-Dade and Broward counties.
These games are also available on some multi-day cruise ships and gambling boats once they venture out into international waters.
Senior center amusement arcades offer slot-like coin-operated amusement machines. However, these include:
- Shooting galleries
- Pinball machines
- Video games
- Music machines
Slot machines available at racinos in FL must have a minimum return-to-player of 85%. On the other hand, tribal casinos are not obliged to follow any minimum legal RTP limitations, nor do they need to declare this information publicly.
For a very brief period in late 2021, it seemed like tribal casinos in the Sunshine State could gain permission to include real-money roulette games into their offer.
This would have been a part of the state’s federal agreement with the Seminole Tribe to legalize online sports betting and allow the tribe to add craps and roulette to its land-based casinos. However, the efforts were soon stalled, and roulette remained illegal throughout the state.
Still, casinos can offer video roulette and a roulette-like RNG game produced by a Slovenian company called Interblock. This game works just like traditional roulette, except it features a device that controls the wheel’s speed and the ball. Because of this system, the game doesn’t classify as roulette and is, therefore, allowed in the state’s casinos.
Like blackjack, real-money baccarat games are available only at Florida’s tribal casinos and on gambling cruise ships. Residents can find multiple standard variations of this game in Seminole Tribe casinos’ cardrooms.
However, there are no licensed Florida online casinos where you can play this game.
Still, you can find offshore gambling websites, such as those at the top of this page, that accept FL players and offer baccarat games.
Other Table Games
Except for roulette and craps, Floridians can play almost any other standard table game in tribal casinos belonging to the Seminole Tribe.
These casinos offer multiple variations of blackjack, poker, and baccarat. Some of the most popular tables include:
- Blazing 777’s Blackjack Progressive
- One Card Blackjack
- Spanish 21
- Ultimate Texas Hold’em
- Three-Card Poker
- Let It Ride
- Mississippi Stud
- Mini Baccarat
The official gambling laws in Florida recognize Class II video poker machines as legal.
These games fall under the same category as Class II slot games, so you can expect to find them in gambling venues in Miami-Dade and Broward counties, as well as those under the jurisdiction of the Seminole Tribe.
Like other casino games, video poker is also available on gambling boats and cruise ships.
All live dealer games we’ve mentioned so far are available in a live dealer format. Players can find live dealer poker in all parts of the state, but live dealer blackjack and live baccarat can only be hosted by tribal casinos.
Of course, Floridians can also play all kinds of live dealer games on cruise ships and gambling boats. This is possible because, once these vessels enter international waters, they can circumvent the restrictions of FL gambling laws.
Useful Guides for Florida Players
Florida online casinos games can be difficult to understand especially with all the laws that govern their use, so here are some excellent, easy to read and in-depth guides to get you started.
While Florida does allow land-based gambling, with some of the loosest restrictions being in tribal casinos, online gambling is still considered illegal. Any attempts at changing the state of online gambling have failed, but that doesn’t mean FL players can’t gamble remotely.
Many established offshore casinos cater to the Sunshine State’s residents, allowing them to play the best and the latest casino games without leaving their homes.
