When it comes to building a new casino, the process takes time. There are approvals to earn and construction phases to complete, with some venues taking years to finish up. In Illinois, Full House Resorts has plans to bring a venue titled American Place to Waukegan. The casino is taking time to complete, but not wanting the wait, the company now has plans for a temporary structure.
Known as “The Temporary by American Place“, the smaller casino will open this fall and be located on the same site as the permanent facility near the Fountain Square shopping center. The space will be about the size of three football fields and offer slots, table games, dining, and bar service.
Launching a Temporary Space
Full House Resorts wants to take full advantage of its licensing, so the temporary space allows the company to get started long before the permanent facility is operational. Ann Taylor, the mayor of Waukegan, commented that the temporary space will technically be a tent that is strong enough to handle the weather while the venue offers services.
Right now, the temporary site has a concrete pad but little else. The tent structure will be built in the following weeks with Full House already hosting job fairs to fill positions for the new Illinois casino. The mayor feels that the casino will bring in new development for the area, which will only further grow the city and offer opportunity to its residents.
Even more growth is expected once the permanent structure is completed. The temporary space will only remain in service until Full House is able to open the full-scale American Place Casino.
Quality Location Expected to Bring in Visitors
The location of the casino is one of the main driving points that allowed Full House Resorts to obtain licensing. The city is near Chicago, who are also licensing their own casino and Milwaukee, which will see travelers from both areas coming through.
In a presentation to investors, officials showcased how the casino would be the closest gambling option for players located in the southern area of Wisconsin and Lake County. Other casinos nearby will take an hour or longer to reach based on traffic.
The permanent casino will not be open until 2025. Once ready, the venue will offer just over real money 1,600 slot machines and 100 table games. An entertainment space will be located on-site along with six restaurants and bars plus a sportsbook.
The property will also offer a small overnight space with luxury villas. These guest spaces will offer a lavish experience with butlers and room service.
