Detroit’s three commercial casinos managed to bounce back nicely last month, posting their best monthly revenue total since 2021.
The MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino and Hollywood Casino at Greektown generated a combined $111.6 million in revenue during July 2026, as per figures from the Michigan Gaming Control Board.
The total marks a 9.6% rise from the $101.8 million recorded in June and a 5.3% year-over-year gain from July 2025, when the casinos generated approximately $106 million.
Strongest July in 5 Years
July’s performance marked the first time since 2021 that Detroit’s three commercial casinos went over the $110 million milestone in monthly revenue.
The latest figure puts July 2026 within reach of the record July total from 2021, when the casinos generated $115.7 million as the industry continued recovering from pandemic-related restrictions.
MGM Grand Detroit remained the largest of the three properties, generating $52.5 million in July and capturing roughly 47% of the combined market.
MotorCity Casino followed with $34.3 million, while Hollywood Casino at Greektown generated $24.8 million.
The casinos also generated approximately $9 million in state taxes and another $13.3 million in Detroit city taxes during the month.
2026 Revenue, Ahead of Last Year
The strong July results also widened the casinos’ year-to-date lead over 2025. During the first seven months of 2026, the three properties have generated $759.4 million, up 1.9% from the $745 million recorded during the same period last year.
MGM Grand Detroit is in the lead with $361.7 million, up 2.3%. MotorCity Casino has generated $231.1 million, an increase of 3.4%, while Hollywood Casino at Greektown is slightly behind last year’s pace at $166.7 million, down 0.7%.
