Proposed Caesars Virginia

  • The project went from $500m to $650m.
  • The resort will create construction jobs and employment once open for business.
  • The casino should be ready to welcome guests by late 2024.

This week, Caesars Entertainment announced a deal with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians involving its plan to bring a casino to Danville.

Caesars Virginia breaks ground this week and is set to offer a premium resort experience in the area.

The company has plans to invest more funding into the project and hopes to be operational by late 2024.

A Larger Investment is in Play

When the project was first announced by Caesars, it was reported that $500 million would be spent on the facility. Now, Caesars has increased its budget to a whopping $650 million. The resort will initially offer thousands of construction jobs and then permanent employment for residents of Danville and the surrounding area.

The casino and hotel are expected to be a huge tourism and revenue driver for the local economy. The hotel will feature 500 guest rooms and the casino gaming floor will house 1,300 slot games plus 85 table games. A total of 24 electronic table games will also be added.

Visitors of the resort can enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel and take advantage of onsite amenities. Caesars has plans to offer a swimming pool, full-service spa, restaurants, and bars. A live entertainment theater will be located on-site with seats for 2,500 guests. A meeting and convention space is also included.

Poker and Sportsbook Services to Come

Caesars will act as the manager of the casino with a World Series of Poker branded poker room to be located near the casino floor. This will give the casino the ability to offer WSOP events as well as cash gaming and other tournament options. The spot should be a popular place for card players to gather and take part in major events.

For sports fans, Caesars will add a large sportsbook and of course it will have the traditional Caesars branding. The space will offer kiosks and betting window options for guests to place wagers. The app for the sportsbook is already live, allowing players to bet now from anywhere in the state.

Caesars Entertainment President and Chief Operating Officer Anthony Carano commented that the company is excited to build a world-class resort in Danville with its valued partner, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The two have worked together for over twenty years.

Principal Chief of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, Richard Sneed, says that the venture is a vital opportunity for the nation and its people.
