  • Part-time and Full-time employees receive monetary assistance.
  • Flexible working arrangements are offered to cut down on childcare and gas spending.
  • Varying shifts are also offered for a better working environment.

Wind Creek Hospitality announced this week a new plan to help ease the pressures connected to its employees and inflation. The cost of living is extremely high right now particularly with gas and food prices.

The casino company is instituting changes to help ease the burden on employees as they can. Cash stipends and a change in work schedule are among the initiatives taking place.

Helping Employees Any Way They Can

The first step towards helping employees with the inflation crisis is to provide a one-time cash stipend. Part-time and full-time employees will receive a payment to help with the cost-of-living needs. The Tribal Council of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians support these steps as they know how important and valuable their workers are to operations.

Next, Wind Creek plans to offer flexible work schedules to help employees cut back on fuel and child-care spending. Schedules will be created where employees can take longer shifts but work fewer days to cut down on driving time and the need for help with childcare.

CEO and President of Wind Creek, Jay Dorris, stated that changing a schedule from a five-day work week to three or four days will cut down on fuel and child-care costs by 20-40%. Every dollar that is not used for gas can be used for other needs such as a mortgage, rent, or food costs.

Build a Work Schedule for Lifestyle Needs

As the casino industry is in the post-pandemic era, the need for a changing workforce has been seen, by Wind Creek Hospitality and other operators. Hourly employees are now offered the chance to work a traditional five day eight-hour shift or go for four ten-hour shifts, or three twelve-hour shifts. The hours are the same, but the days off can help with lifestyle needs of every family.

The flexible work hours are not offered for every position, but Wind Creek Hospitality is still working to ensure that there is flexibility in positions within the company. The goal is to assist the workforce without compromising on the guest experience.

Team members will find out later this month how much the stipend is and what options they have for flexible scheduling. It will be interesting to see if these changes help the workforce to be more productive during this time of inflation and see savings based on shorter work schedules.

Wind Creek Hospitality currently operates several casinos across the United States including Wind Creek Bethlehem, Wind Creek Atmore, Wind Creek Montgomery, Wa She Shu Casino in Nevada, among others.
