  • This will be the largest expansion for the casino in two decades.
  • The project will double the convention and meeting space.
  • A new hotel is included in the plans with 250 guest rooms.

The Oneida Indian Nation is planning on revitalizing its Turning Stone Resort Casino in New York, making several changes via a multi-year plan.

When all is said and done, the casino will offer double the convention and meeting space with a new hotel on site. The hotel will include around 250 guest rooms with dining options and outdoor areas. The additions will allow the casino property to offer more services to patrons, from events and workshops to hotel stays.

Largest Investment in Two Decades

The new plan will be the largest reinvestment for the operator in twenty years, with the Oneida Nation hoping to remain as a top event and tourism destination in the state. Representative and Oneida Nation Enterprises CEO Ray Halbritter, commented that the operator is experiencing record demand for conference and event hosting, outpacing what the property is able to handle.

The multi-year expansion will help to meet the growing need and provide for a greater demand in the future. Halbritter pointed out that the 30-year track record of the company proved that investments like the one planned are essential to sustaining the growth and success of its enterprises and the region.

The plan will create hundreds of local construction jobs and result in millions of dollars brought to local vendors and businesses. Hanyer Hoyt will act as the general contractor for the project while Central New York trade unions will provide employees.

Permanent Employment to Come

The expansion plans for the casino in New York will support continued growth of the workforce for the Oneida Indian Nation and bring hundreds of jobs for individuals. The Oneida Indian Nation is one of the largest employees and key contributors to investments in Central New York each year. The tribe has also been a strong driver of economic development of Oneida County.

Officials of the tribe feel that the expansion will help bring in increased tourism, new employment, and more. To push the employment opportunities, Turning Stone will be hosting a job fair on September 12. The hiring event will take place from 10 am until 6 pm. Anyone interested in employment opportunities can attend the upcoming event to apply.

Planning for the new property expansion is underway and the tribe is expected to hold a groundbreaking in 2023. The Oneida Indian Nation has invested over $1 billion in central New York within the past thirty years helping the local community in a variety of ways.
