The Catawba Nation has announced the grand opening of the first phase of its highly anticipated Catawba Two Kings Casino Resort, marking a major milestone in the development of its $1 billion gaming and entertainment complex.

The introductory casino phase will open today, May 20, 226, at 10 a.m., and will take the place of the tribe’s temporary gaming facility operating since July 2021.

The new venue will significantly expand the property’s gaming capacity, displaying a total of 1,350 slot machines, 36 electronic table games, and 22 traditional table games.

In addition to the gaming floor, the opening phase will include a 68-seat restaurant, an 18-seat bar, sports betting kiosks, and a dedicated player rewards desk. According to officials, the new casino features 250 more slot machines and 8 additional table games than the temporary facility.

Construction work is still underway across the broader resort site, with crews currently transferring around 600 slots from the temporary casino while installing more than 700 new machines and table games in the permanent structure.

Full Completion by Next Spring

Once it is fully completed, the massive resort will cover roughly two million square feet, becoming one of the largest entertainment destinations in the region.

Plans for the final phase include a 24-story hotel tower with 385 rooms, nearly a dozen dining venues, a marketplace featuring six different outlets, a café, and 11 bars.

Officials say the entire resort should be completed by spring 2027, further expanding the tribe’s footprint in the competitive southeastern U.S. gaming market.

Tribal leaders have described the project as a long-term investment in economic development, job creation, and tourism growth for North Carolina.
