Around 6 am on Monday morning, a shooting incident occurred at the Capital Casino in Sacramento, California.

Details of the Incident
According to police, the shooting occurred early on Monday morning as people around the area were heading in to work. A spokesperson said that an armed individual was trying to rob the casino when a man approached him.
The shooter shot the man, and it was a lethal blow. Police responded to the robbery call and say they heard gunshots when they arrived. Thankfully, the suspect was still on the scene and police were able to detain him after removing his weapon.
The victim has yet to be identified. Earlier reports suggested that the individual who was shot was a security guard, but that remains unclear. Homicide detectives are still looking into the matter. We do not know if this was an isolated hit for the robber or if he knew that the California casino would be a prime target.
We expect more details to be made public by police and family members of the victim once the investigation comes to an end.
Not The First Shooting at Capitol Casino
This incident is not the first time that a shooting took place at the Capitol Casino. In 2016, a gunfight broke out in the early morning hours on a Sunday and the gunman reportedly fired his weapon as many as 17 times.
A Sacramento police officer was working security for the casino at the time and was called out into the parking lot to break up a fight. Witnesses to the incident say that it was a brawl and the police officer plus two other security guards were able to separate those involved.
Unfortunately, at that time, one person pulled out a gun and started firing at the other group of people. Everyone started running and ducking for cover in the hopes of not being hit by the gunfire. The officer as able to return fire and the gunman ran away.
One person was hit during the shooting and died due to injuries. Nicholas Broadway was rushed to the hospital after the shooting but was unable to survive. Reports say he was likely hit by the gunman’s bullets and not those of the police officer.
