  • The hotel will transition to the Hyatt Independent Collection later this year.

The Rio Hotel & Casino Las Vegas is working on major upgrades to the property thanks to a $340 million investment. The multi-phase project includes several changes, with the Dreamscape-owned hotel now becoming part of the Hyatt Hotels Corporation.

The Rio offers 2,500 hotel rooms, and guests can now participate in the World of Hyatt program to be eligible for more incentives and rewards.

Destination by Hyatt

Rio’s hotel will now be known as a “Destination by Hyatt“. Phase one of the project will conclude this fall. The hotel will transition to the Independent Collection of Hyatt under Destination by Hyatt. Senior Vice President of Development, Americas, Hyatt, David Tarr, stated that the company is proud to work with Rio to revitalize the iconic hotel.

The renovation will be a gateway for guests to experience a place of purposefully crafted entertainment and experiences that immerse guests in their surroundings. The Rio will be the first Destination by Hyatt hotel to be located in Nevada.

More on Phase One Renovations

The Rio is working on several renovations as part of the Phase One project. Once the full renovations are complete, the property will be home to renovated guest suites, new dining options, nightlife, and meeting spaces.

Phase One will fully upgrade the Ipanema Tower, which is home to 1,501 guest rooms. The arrival area for guests, exterior, lobby, game floor which includes blackjack & roulette tables, and sportsbooks will also revamped. Food and beverage areas, the outdoor pool, and meeting space are also included in the upgrades.

Once Phase One is over, the second portion of the project will begin. This will include a full renovation of the Masquerade Tower guest rooms. This area has over 1,000 rooms. Public areas of the tower will be transformed as well.

The reimagined spaces will include spacious areas with floor-to-ceiling views of the city. Guests will surely be impressed with the new look and feel of the hotel spaces. It is unclear when the Masquerade Tower rooms will be completed, but we expect it will be sometime next year.

To celebrate the hotel joining the World of Hyatt program, Rio offers members 500 extra points for every qualifying night from April 1 to June 30 of this year. The program went live on March 1 and already provides guests with new and exciting ways to earn points.

Visitors have plenty of time to travel to the Rio and earn the extra points as part of the celebration.
