{"id":3590,"date":"2026-08-12T11:21:42","date_gmt":"2026-08-12T11:21:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/?p=3590"},"modified":"2026-08-12T15:36:49","modified_gmt":"2026-08-12T15:36:49","slug":"detroit-casinos-post-strong-july-revenue-hits-111-6-million","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/detroit-casinos-post-strong-july-revenue-hits-111-6-million","title":{"rendered":"Detroit Casinos Post Strong July, Revenue Hits $111.6 Million"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/08\/michigan.jpg\" alt=\"Michigan\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1586\" width=\"300\" title=\"Detroit Casinos Post Strong July, Revenue Hits $111.6 Million\" \/><strong>Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Combined July revenue for Detroit\u2019s three commercial casinos reached $111.6m.<\/li>\n<li>The month recorded a 5.3% increase compared with the same month in 2025.<\/li>\n<li>The three venues generated $759.4 million in total revenue through July 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/july-the-second-weakest-month-of-2025-in-casino-visits\">Detroit\u2019s three commercial casinos managed to bounce back<\/a> nicely last month, posting their best monthly revenue total since 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino and Hollywood Casino at Greektown generated a combined $111.6 million in revenue during July 2026, as per figures from the Michigan Gaming Control Board.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong>total marks a 9.6% rise from the $101.8 million recorded in June<\/strong> and a 5.3% year-over-year gain from July 2025, when the casinos generated approximately $106 million.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"strongest-july-in-5-years\">Strongest July in 5 Years <\/h2>\n<p>July\u2019s performance marked the first time since 2021 that Detroit\u2019s three commercial casinos went over the $110 million milestone in monthly revenue.<\/p>\n<p>The latest figure puts July 2026 within reach of the record July total from 2021, when the casinos generated $115.7 million as the industry continued recovering from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/detroit-casinos-call-for-mask-mandates-again-as-covid-19-cases-surge\">pandemic-related restrictions<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MGM Grand Detroit<\/strong> remained the largest of the three properties, generating $52.5 million in July and capturing roughly 47% of the combined market.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MotorCity Casino<\/strong> followed with $34.3 million, while <strong>Hollywood Casino at Greektown<\/strong> generated $24.8 million.<\/p>\n<p>The casinos also generated approximately $9 million in state taxes and another $13.3 million in Detroit city taxes during the month.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"2026-revenue-ahead-of-last-year\">2026 Revenue, Ahead of Last Year<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/mgcb\/-\/media\/Project\/Websites\/mgcb\/Detroit-Casino-Revenue-Files\/Detroit_Casino_Revenue-2026-PDF.pdf?rev=a5f94df9cd03438d8e87964bca9dbfef&#038;hash=E2C6E3E3A6AE5FEC532BAB93ED78C5D9\">strong July results<\/a> also widened the casinos\u2019 year-to-date lead over 2025. During the first seven months of 2026, the three properties have generated $759.4 million, up 1.9% from the $745 million recorded during the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>MGM Grand Detroit is in the lead with $361.7 million, up 2.3%.
