{"id":3501,"date":"2025-09-24T11:27:40","date_gmt":"2025-09-24T11:27:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/?p=3501"},"modified":"2025-09-24T15:27:47","modified_gmt":"2025-09-24T15:27:47","slug":"alabama-coushatta-tribe-of-texas-to-build-new-naskila-casino-resort-in-leggett","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/alabama-coushatta-tribe-of-texas-to-build-new-naskila-casino-resort-in-leggett","title":{"rendered":"Alabama-Coushatta Tribe to Build New Naskila Casino Resort in Leggett"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/naskila-casino-livingston-texas.jpg\" alt=\"Naskila Casino, Livingston, Texas\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3502\" width=\"300\" title=\"Alabama-Coushatta Tribe to Build New Naskila Casino Resort in Leggett\" \/><strong>Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The National Indian Gaming Commission allows the Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas to build the Naskila Casino Resort on land in Leggett.<\/li>\n<li>The project will attract 1,000 jobs, generate additional tax revenue, and stimulate economic growth in Polk County.<\/li>\n<li>Resort plans feature an expanded gaming space, hotel, dining, and entertainment options.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <strong>Alabama-Coushatta Tribe of Texas<\/strong> has officially confirmed that its long-anticipated Naskila Casino Resort will not be built on the reservation, but on land owned by the tribe in Leggett, just north of Livingston in Polk County, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/states\/texas\">Texas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The tribal council\u2019s chairwoman, <strong>Cecilia Flores<\/strong>, delivered the good news with excitement during a meeting with the Polk County Commissioners Court on Tuesday, where several council members joined her.<\/p>\n<p>Flores made it clear that the tribe has \u201c<em>received confirmation from the National Indian Gaming Commission<\/em>\u201d, following their petition regarding \u201c<em>gaming on tribal properties outside the reservation in eastern Polk County<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The commission deemed \u201c<em>the Leggett land is eligible for gaming<\/em>\u201d, which now allows them to carry on with their plans to develop the Naskila Casino Resort there.<\/p>\n<p>Flores also took the opportunity to once again speak about the project\u2019s long-term benefits for the community, which will include \u201c<em>a whole lot of new jobs, a lot of new opportunities for taxes, income, roads, the whole thing<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"the-luckiest-spot-in-texas-to-expand\">The \u201cLuckiest Spot in Texas\u201d, to Expand<\/h2>\n<p>The tribe already operates the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.naskila.com\">Naskila Casino<\/a> (<em>pictured<\/em>), which initially had 365 Class II electronic gaming machines in 2016 when it opened and has since grown to over 900 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/games\/slots\">slot<\/a> machines, along with two caf\u00e9s, a gift shop, and the Ischoopa Travel Center.<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, the operation has had an undeniably significant economic impact on East Texas, with the tribe injecting over $212 million into the region and making the casino, known as \u201c<em>the luckiest spot in Texas<\/em>\u201d, one of Polk County\u2019s largest employers, boasting an annual payroll of $22.5 million. <\/p>\n<p>In April 2024, the tribe first announced its <strong>vision for a larger destination property<\/strong>, which would expand beyond gaming and include a modern casino floor, a hotel, multiple restaurants, entertainment venues, and family-friendly attractions. <\/p>\n<p><strong>FFKR<\/strong> has been chosen as the architectural company responsible for the design of the project, which tribal leaders anticipate will set a new hospitality standard in the area.
