{"id":3495,"date":"2025-09-10T11:57:27","date_gmt":"2025-09-10T11:57:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/?p=3495"},"modified":"2025-09-10T11:57:27","modified_gmt":"2025-09-10T11:57:27","slug":"ms-hydes-hot-slots-bar-joins-east-dubuque-revival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/ms-hydes-hot-slots-bar-joins-east-dubuque-revival","title":{"rendered":"Ms. Hyde\u2019s Hot Slots Bar Joins East Dubuque Revival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2025\/09\/ms-hydes-hot-slots-east-dubuque-illinois.jpg\" alt=\"Ms. Hyde&#039;s Hot Slots, East Dubuque IL\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-3496\" width=\"300\" title=\"Ms. Hyde\u2019s Hot Slots Bar Joins East Dubuque Revival\" \/><strong>Summary:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The new Ms. Hyde\u2019s Hot Slots bar and gaming parlor in East Dubuque opened Aug. 11 at 198 Sinsinawa Avenue.<\/li>\n<li>Owners Paula Bodish and Tommy Schmeider renovated the former 2nd Street Slots with city TIF support.<\/li>\n<li>The venue features six gaming machines, a dartboard, and a cozy bar atmosphere.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>East Dubuque\u2019s downtown revival has a new player, both figuratively and literally. <strong>Ms. Hyde\u2019s Hot Slots<\/strong>, a freshly opened bar and gaming lounge at 198 Sinsinawa Avenue, is welcoming locals with drinks, snacks, and the chance to try their luck on six <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/states\/illinois\">Illnois<\/a>-approved gaming machines.<\/p>\n<p>The venture is co-owned by <strong>Paula Bodish<\/strong>, who balances her daytime career as a real estate agent with REMAX Advantage Realty and her evening role as bar owner. \u201c<em>We bought the building in May<\/em>\u201d, Bodish explained. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It\u2019s something we\u2019ve wanted to do. When the opportunity presented itself, we decided to take it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The business officially opened on August 11 after waiting months for the necessary gambling license from Illinois. Being on the Illinois side of the river, Bodish pointed out, gives Ms. Hyde\u2019s an edge over its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/states\/iowa\">Iowa<\/a> neighbors. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Iowa doesn\u2019t allow gaming in its bars, only in casinos. (Iowa bars) pay out in tickets. Illinois pays out in cash on the spot.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2 id=\"big-investment\">Big Investment<\/h2>\n<p>Bodish and her partner, <strong>Tommy Schmeider<\/strong>, invested heavily in transforming what was once 2nd Street Slots into something fresh. <\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>We\u2019ve removed walls, we\u2019ve put new walls up<\/em>\u201d, Bodish said, while also mentioning the added refrigeration system, icemaker, and dishwasher, and the decision to move the location of the games, paint both the interior and the exterior, and add fresh countertops and gutters. <\/p>\n<p>The exterior facelift was supported by the city\u2019s Tax Increment Financing (TIF) program, which provides funds for projects contributing to East Dubuque\u2019s revitalization. <\/p>\n<p>Bodish says it feels good to be part of the momentum. \u201c<em>The new Culbies Event Center just opened about a block down<\/em>\u201d, she noted. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>There\u2019s also the dispensary just a block down. \u2026 The new fire station and police station are going in right across the street from me. \u2026 They\u2019re revitalizing the whole East Dubuque area.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Inside, Ms. Hyde\u2019s keeps things simple and comfortable, adding a dartboard, a handful of pub tables, and a full selection of beer, mixers, and spirits. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>We have all your regular fare like beers and then we also do mixers. We\u2019re still figuring everything out, but we have everything \u2014 all your nicer liquors \u2026 We\u2019re just a small bar where people can enjoy their gaming and not be in a loud atmosphere.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/p\/Ms-Hydes-Hot-Slots-61578017588360\">Ms. Hyde\u2019s Hot Slots<\/a> opens daily at 10 a.m. and closes around 10 or 11 p.m. on weekdays, with hours stretching to midnight or later on weekends, depending on the crowd.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Summary: The new Ms. Hyde\u2019s Hot Slots bar and gaming parlor in East Dubuque opened Aug. 11 at 198 Sinsinawa Avenue.
