Once operational, the casino is expected to employ 365 workers directly and create an additional 315 jobs in the surrounding area.<\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Wb9ZufEr_z8?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"existing-casinos-in-iowa-fear-the-competition\">Existing Casinos in Iowa Fear the Competition  <\/h2>\n<p>However, and as expected, not everyone is a fan of the casino proposal. <\/p>\n<p>Several existing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/states\/iowa\">Iowa casinos<\/a> have raised concerns, arguing that a new gaming venue in Cedar Rapids could siphon customers from their establishments, potentially harming their revenues. <\/p>\n<p>Two previous studies suggest the proposed Cedar Rapids casino could pull up to $68 million from nearby casinos in Riverside and Waterloo.<\/p>\n<p>The reports, commissioned by state gambling regulators, will inform their February vote on the casino application. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Cedar Rapids Mayor Tiffany O\u2019Donnell<\/strong> has remained optimistic, highlighting projections that the casino could generate over $100 million in revenue by the end of the decade.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I think competition will help those existing entities be better, The numbers I see (show) the market\u2019s ready\u2026 for a casino in the state\u2019s second-largest city.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>However, <strong>Patty Koller<\/strong>, Executive Director of the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, expressed concerns. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It\u2019s just a distribution of the clientele,&#8221; she said. &#8220;It\u2019s not a huge advantage\u2026 just distributing the ones that already exist.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/irgc.iowa.gov\/media\/380\/download?inline\">Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission<\/a> will review all objections on Thursday.
