It was a really big mistake on my part<\/em>\u201d, Marnell admitted, calling it a lapse in judgment and a departure from his usually strict approach to licensing responsibilities.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on his 25-year career as a casino licensee, Marnell, who stated he was <strong>unaware that his son had previously been ejected from the Wynn for underage attendance<\/strong>, acknowledged this experience as a reminder to stay diligent in upholding gaming standards.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"a-show-of-arrogance\">\u201cA Show of Arrogance\u201d<\/h2>\n<p>Commissioners expressed concern about the incident, with <strong>Rosa Solis-Rainey<\/strong> describing it as \u201c<em>a show of arrogance<\/em>\u201d contrary to Marnell\u2019s demeanor, adding it \u201c<em>seemed out of character<\/em>\u201d as she considers him \u201c<em>a good licensee<\/em>\u201d. <\/p>\n<p>The commissioners also noted the impact on Wynn\u2019s employees involved in the incident, with a dealer and a supervisor being suspended. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Commissioner Abbi Silver<\/strong> expressed approval for Marnell&#8217;s efforts to promote growth and employment in Ely, commending his accountability over the incident. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Commissioner Brian Krolicki<\/strong>, former lieutenant governor, supported the decision, calling the Prospector a cultural asset and noting Marnell&#8217;s &#8220;<em>authentic contrition<\/em>&#8220;. <\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201c<em>We\u2019ve all had to wrestle through situations like this; being licensed just makes it different<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the criticism, Marnell\u2019s extensive contributions to the community and his accountability during the hearing led the Commission to support his licensing.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"expansion-plans-underway\">Expansion Plans Underway <\/h2>\n<p>The acquisition, managed under Terzetto LLC, a newly formed entity of the AM3 2012 Trust, will keep the property in good condition, a key factor for Marnell. <\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.prospectorhotel.us\">Prospector Hotel &#038; Gambling Hall<\/a> has 60 hotel rooms, 138 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/games\/slots\">slot machines<\/a>, a William Hill sports betting kiosk, a restaurant, and a bar. <\/p>\n<p>Marnell plans to expand the property with 60-90 additional hotel rooms, 20 to 30 more slot machines, and a larger bar area.<br \/>\nThe current staff of 27 full-time and 11 part-time employees will be retained, with benefits and a bonus plan in place.<\/p>\n<p>Reflecting on the opportunity, Marnell said, <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>I\u2019m not usually looking for properties this small, but I thought this was unique.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He noted the property\u2019s excellent condition and its potential for growth, particularly with its proximity to mining activity in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioner Brian Krolicki expressed support, recognizing Marnell\u2019s \u201c<em>authentic contrition<\/em>\u201d and the family\u2019s longstanding contributions to Nevada\u2019s gaming industry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[1,5,4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3402","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-news","category-industry","category-legal"],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.5 - https:\/\/yoast.com\/wordpress\/plugins\/seo\/ -->\n<title>Nevada GC Backs Takeover of Prospector Hotel &amp;
