It was a solid month for the state, as the gaming industry has already crushed the $1 billion mark for 2023. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"new-monthly-totals\">New Monthly Totals <\/h2>\n<p>The $196 million generated in May was a decrease of 3% when compared to the $202 million from last year. So far this year, the state has earned $1 billion, an increase of around $16 million when considering the 2022 totals from the same time frame. <\/p>\n<p>The four casinos in the state are able to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/games\/slots\">offer slots<\/a> and table games. They brought in just over $80 million for the month. This was around $6.7 million lower than last year. There are seven racinos in Ohio, which the venues able to offer horse racing and slots. These operators generated $115.3 million. <\/p>\n<p>The racinos actually saw a slight uptick in yearly earnings. It was less than $1 million, but still a nice increase overall. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"individual-operator-earnings\">Individual Operator Earnings <\/h2>\n<p>The big casino earner for May was <strong>Hollywood Columbus<\/strong> with $22,387,443 in earnings. The casino saw a nice increase from last\u2019 years $21.9 million. Next up is <strong>JACK Cleveland Casino<\/strong>, bringing in just over $20.7 million. The casino was down though for the month, having earned $22.3 million last year. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Hard Rock Cincinnati<\/strong> took third place, earning $19.5 million. This was a significant drop from $21.8 million in 2022. <strong>Hollywood Toledo<\/strong> rounds out the list, dropping from $20.5 million last year to $17.8 million this year. <\/p>\n<p>For racinos, the top earner was <strong>MGM Northfield Park<\/strong>. The casino brought in just over $25.6 million. This was an increase from the $24.3 million last year. <strong>Miami Valley Gaming<\/strong> took the number two spot, earning $20.2 million this year, a nice increase from 2022\u2019s $18.9 million. <\/p>\n<p><strong>Scioto Downs<\/strong> came in third, earning $19.7 million. This was a drop from over $20 million. The remaining racinos brought in $15 million less for the month. Each saw a decrease in monthly totals. <\/p>\n<p>It will be interesting to see how the casinos and racinos fare going into the next few months. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/ohio-gambling-venues-set-record-revenue-year-in-2022\">state is already on pace for a record year in general<\/a>, but the summer months tend to be much slower due to vacationing and outdoor activities. <\/p>\n<p>We will keep track of upcoming earnings and information to see if the state displays and upward or downward trend. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Summary: The earnings were 3% less than May 2022.
