{"id":1568,"date":"2020-07-15T08:15:30","date_gmt":"2020-07-15T08:15:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/?p=1568"},"modified":"2020-07-15T08:15:30","modified_gmt":"2020-07-15T08:15:30","slug":"eldorado-caesars-merger-enters-final-stretch-after-ihrc-approval","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/eldorado-caesars-merger-enters-final-stretch-after-ihrc-approval","title":{"rendered":"Eldorado-Caesars Merger Enters Final Stretch After IHRC Approval"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2020\/06\/caesars-entertainment-to-merge-with-eldorado-resorts.jpg\" alt=\"Caesars Entertainment merger with Eldorado Resorts\" title=\"Eldorado-Caesars Merger Enters Final Stretch After IHRC Approval\" width=\"300\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-1510\" \/>The blockbuster merger between <strong>Eldorado Resorts<\/strong> and <strong>Caesars Entertainment<\/strong>, worth $17.3 billion, has received its penultimate approval from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.in.gov\/hrc\/files\/Prehearing%20order.pdf\">Indiana Horse Racing Commission<\/a> (IHRC) earlier this week. <\/p>\n<p>The final hurdle for approval will be to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/new-jersey-regulators-may-be-stalling-on-caesars-eldorado-merger\">get the green light from New Jersey gaming regulators<\/a> which should be done before the end of this week.<\/p>\n<p>With the approval of the IHRC, Eldorado will now operate two racetrack casinos currently possessed by Caesars: <em>Indiana Grand Racing &amp; Casino in Shelby<\/em> and <em>Harrah\u2019s Hoosier Park Racing &amp; Casino in Anderson<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Aside from the two racetrack casinos, the proposed merger would also make Eldorado the owner of the <em>Horseshoe Southern Indiana in Elizabeth<\/em> and the <em>Horseshoe Hammond<\/em>. Eldorado is currently the owner of <em>Tropicana Evansville<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The merger between Eldorado and Caesars was given the OK by Nevada regulators last week and this week it got the required approval from Indiana. The merger will result in a mammoth gaming conglomerate with almost 60 properties located across 16 states. Eldorado\u2019s management team will take charge of their merged operations, with current CEO Tom Reeg set to hold the reins of the merged company. <\/p>\n<h2 id=\"eldorado-unloading-properties-to-meet-regulators-demands\">Eldorado Unloading Properties to Meet Regulators\u2019 Demands<\/h2>\n<p>The Indiana Gaming Commission (IGC) also approved the deal but ordered that three of the five casinos Eldorado is set to operate after the mergerto be sold before Jan. 1, 2021. Reeg had expected to sell just two of the company\u2019s Indiana casinos, but the IHRC may have been worried that Eldorado\u2019s local gaming portfolio would stifle competition within the industry.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Eyewitness News WEHT WTVW<\/strong><\/p>\n<div style=\"position:relative;height:0;padding-bottom:56.25%\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/oi2n8m6a1X8?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0?ecver=2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" style=\"position:absolute;width:100%;height:100%;left:0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;;<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.casinousa.com\/news\/caesars-merger-gives-eldorado-five-indian-casino-management-deals\">five Eldorado casinos in Indiana<\/a>  contribute almost 60% of the nearly $600 million a year in gaming taxes collected by the state in 2019. One member of the IHRC was said to have pushed for even greater limits on Eldorado\u2019s market share, which should stand at 40%. <\/p>\n<p>Reeg has informed the IHRC that the new company will sell the following three properties to fulfill the commission\u2019s requirements: <em>Tropicana Evansville, Hammond Horseshoe and the Caesars Southern Indiana<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>Across the U.S, Eldorado has been unloading properties to fulfill requirements by states and the Federal Trade Commission. Eldorado has sold the operations of <em>MontBleu Resort Casino in Lake Tahoe<\/em> as well as the <em>Eldorado Shreveport in Louisiana<\/em> to <strong>Twin River Worldwide Holdings<\/strong> for $155 million. <\/p>\n<p>Eldorado also plans to unload one other resort at the Las Vegas Strip that is presently owned by Caesars.
